Stop leaving long ass voice mails

Do you spent what seemed like hours on your phone checking voicemail?

Or, are you the one leaving long ass rambling voicemails?

We are all guilty of leaving long ass voicemails. I know I am. I just left one for my friend 5 minutes ago. That's probably how long the message was. 5 minutes. At least it felt like 5 minutes for me.

Long vms are not cool. They waste your time and the receiver's time. And if you think about it: "Wasn't there something more important that you had to do?"

Here are 3 things to do before you pick up the phone:

1. Have a purpose.

what was your reason for calling?

2. Write down the main points.

I'm not saying essay here. but jotting down the main points helps you stay on task.
the bonus is that you don't forget anything.

3. Get the right response.

Do you need them to call you back? Or are you calling them with answers to their questions? How do you want them to respond?

As one of the biggest long message abusers that I know, I will follow these three steps as much as I can. (If you get a long ass vm from me...I may be drunk calling. That's a whole other topic.)

Have fun today!
