I'm RICH, biatch!!!

We all have our idea of what it means to be rich. Are you rich right now? Will you ever be rich? How will you know when you are rich?

We all talk about getting rich. We all want to be rich someday. I think it's possible for you to be rich. But what I'd like you to think about is...."What does being RICH mean to you?" Is Mother Theresa rich? Or is Oprah Winfrey rich? What about Dave Chapelle?

The dictionary defines RICH as 1. having extensive material wealth. 2. Having geat value or worth.

For most of us, the first definition is the one we think of. The dictionary also lists WEALTH as a synonym. So when we are talking about wealth, we are talking about being rich. My suggestion is to define exactly what amount you consider someone to be rich. Then apply this amount to you.

Wanna be RICH? The first step is to define what the word means to you. My definition of rich is to be worth one million dollars. This means everything I own minus everything I owe equals one million. Then I would pimp that million dollars. I would put that cash out to work for me. ("Pimp Your Dollars!" is the fourth habit of "The 5 Habits of Money.") More on Pimpin Your Dollars! soon. So stay tuned!

Today, I just want you to define in dollar amounts what being rich means. By doing this simple exercise, you will be one step closer to being RICH!

Wanna be RICH? The first step is to define what the word means to you. The next step is to become someone of "great value or worth."

WHAT IS YOUR DOLLAR AMOUNT DEFINITION OF BEING RICH? WHY?

Never work for money ever again!

Work for you, not for money. When we work, it's usually because we have to. I'd like to share with you some of the things I've learned as an entrepreneur. I can't say that I've never had a job before. In fact, I've had a job for almost half of 2006. But I've found that I can't escape destiny. As an entrepreneur, I'm much happier, more alive and more wealthy.

When it comes to being an entrepreneur and an overall good guy, I try to stick to these three fundamentals:

1. Create value

2. Help as many people as possible

3. Share what you have

I practice these fundamentals all the time. I am conscious and continually working on them. Try these actions for yourself. Test it. Use what works for you. Dump what doesn't.

Things I learned while doing what I love:

1. Do what you love. Money will come to you.

2. To create value: Give more to others.

3. Money is a by product.

4. The more people you affect, the more money you make.

5. Become an expert at one thing.

6. Focus on helping people first.

7. Money is energy. Money flows. It is always moving.

8. The more money you move, the more money you make.

9. If you keep searching, you will find the thing you love the most.

Secrets of "The Secret"

My friend Veronica, who is one of the best graphic and web designers in San Francisco, turned me on to one of the most powerful movies ever made. It's called "The Secret." I watched it once on my computer and watched it again when the DVD came. My mind has been expanded. My outlook has changed.

13. Don't focus on debt. Instead, focus on abundance.

17. Live from your heart.

18. Go for what you want.

Why "9 to 5" when you can be alive?

I just finished a weekend of funerals. Two funerals in two days. Yesterday's funeral was more of a celebration. In fact, it was called a "Celebration of Life." This celebration of life was the best funeral/memorial service EVER! (Great job, Pira Tritasavit)

The event was full of memories and stories all funny and heart tugging. So many people packed the church and the overflow area downstairs. Most of the people who attended and spoke were mostly family, and friends, people my aunty partied with. The stories told were not about how good she was at her "9 to 5." They were mostly about the things she did, the people she met, the places she went, the lives she affected.

That's how I came up with this gem: "Why '9 to 5' when you can be alive?" Working is not living. Working is just one way to earn money. (Stay Tuned: if you want the other way to earn money) Life and living is doing the things you want to do. The things that make you happy. The things that you are passionate about. The things that make a difference. The things you would rather be doing than work. You know....those things.

"Those things" are what The 5 Habits of Money are all about. Whatever "those things" is for you, The 5 Habits of Money can help you do them. The 5 Habits is all about doing the things you "have to" do first, in order to do the things you "want to" do.

Wouldn't it be great to travel the world? Live in different countries. Learn new languages and experience new cultures. Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to help a hundred, a thousand, a million people? To better the life of a single child or an entire community. Wouldn't it be fun to have coffee or lunch with an old friend? An old teacher or classmate? Or if you have no friends, make a new friend?

What are "those things" for you? What would you do if you didn't "have to" work? (and don't say "work." the teacher won't accept that answer. The first part of getting what you want is to ask. Tell me, I wanna know!)

The Pigeon Story

I had coffee with my friend Critter today. Critter introduced me to Ira Rothstein, an English teacher from Lowell HS. I remember he was a good teacher because everyone else said so. His classes were always full. Otherwise I might have learned something from him. Today, I got a couple nuggets of knowledge from him. I also learned a lot from Critter today too. He and I aren't really "classroom" types. Although we are definitely "learning" types. Here is a prime example of "never stop learning." I present to you a story by Critter Yuen:

"You don’t have to be a student to learn or a teacher to teach. I learned a lot by not doing much. Just listening to people talk and watching their actions. I sit at the coffee shop and at the casino listening: to teachers, to business owners, to crazy people, to parents, to students, to contractors, to strip club owners, to "poker pros." Not one has taught me much more than the other. But what I get out of listening to each person talk is different from one another."

"I feel like a pigeon on the sidewalk. Everyone feeds me, whether they know it or not. Some people drop crumbs, or information. And some people will just straight out feed me. So, if they have a Ph.D. or only $5 in their pocket, I listen the same way. Because sometimes, I get the best food from people I least expect it from. Not everyone will give me respect. But, whether they know it or not, I’m getting something from them. You just have to listen and take what you will from each."

Have you learned anything lately?

You are never too old or too young...to stop learning.

The Best Business Card EVER!

Check out my new business card! HOT, RIGHT! I hope you love it....... or hate it. Just don't be anywhere in between. Let me know what you think. Email me!

I'm going for memorable: WOW! Can I have another?, dang! that's nice, or ewww...who does he think he is?!?! (I learned that from scott ginsberg ) It's way better than having it on the floor or at the bottom of your recycle bin.
Enough about me. Let's talk about you...
Have you heard about the law of attraction?
Do you know much about this law?
It's about you and how you determine what happens to you.
More on this tomorrow. I'm gonna leave you with a quote.
"Whatever the mind of man can conceive, it can achieve."
W. Clement Stone
peace out, homies

Never Stop Learning

Most of us think that once we get out of school...that's it. "I'm done." "My education stops here."

WRONG!

I know because I was wrong too. I've learned more out of school than I ever learned in school. Our formal education stops whenever we stop going to class. But as a genius once told me "Life's greatests lessons are learned outside of the classroom." (I love quoting myself. It's true. You are the only one who will quote yourself until someone else starts quoting you. Quote me on that!)

Think about it. Where did you learn the skills you needed in your job? You may have picked up the basics in college, but the fine tuning??? Who taught you that?

Never stop learning...
There were so many things school prepared us for...like reading, writing and 'rithmetic.
There are some things school never taught us.
FINANCIAL EDUCATION
That's the one I'm most concerned for you about.

Financial education= 1.how to make a buck 2. knowing what to do with that buck once you make it.

How's your financial education? Are you staying out of debt? Are you working a plan to retire early? Is your money making money for you 24/7?

Question of the Week: How are you doing with your financial education?

Welcome to The 5 Habits of Money Blog!!!

Hi my name is Eugene Saw. I'm currently retired at the tender age of 28. I quit the "9-5" thing in order to pursue my passion: helping people master money through speaking and writing about The 5 Habits of Money.

Through this blog, I hope to share with you my thoughts, ideas and enthusiasm about MONEY MASTERY. I want to challenge you: the way you think, feel and act about money. I want to free you from the job you hate. The job where 1. you forgot why you took it in the first place 2. you are not challenged 3. you spend 10 hours of your day wishing you were somewhere else. THAT JOB!

I wanna give you options, baby. I wanna give you hope. I wanna tell you: "I believe in you, Champ." "You can do, be and have anything you want!" I'm also gonna show you how to get it. So stay tuned and hold on.

It's gonna be a fun ride!

Peace out homies.
